Cal just released their rebrand earlier this week and many believe the effort is OK but not as good as what Oregon State received a month or so earlier. The new bear has a jagged look which is a bit awkward but seemingly is supposed to remind of a tree. Kinda strange since that is a Stanford thing. I personally feel the part of the new beaver logo that is a little less than ideal is the part behind the ear where it goes on for a while and has more open space then the rest of the design. It gives it a bit of a bicycle racing helmet feel. Still, all in all the OSU uniforms were a solid effort and will be even better as long as the players get their wish and our allowed to mix up the look a bit more than what BDC may be leaning towards. That seems like a waste of some certain appealing combos so hopefully we don’t go the Minnesota route of too conservative. YOLO as BDC says and it is time for him to live by those words.
Most fans seem to like the Orange and Black helmets of Oregon State the most followed by the White mainly because the new logo has some who like it and some who aren’t as wild about it. The orange helmet does have the new logo on the back of the helmet and a number on one side. The black helmet has no logo and could get mildly boring over time. Personally, I like what Nike did because as Nike frontman Todd Van Horne stated, Oregon State is the very first school to receive 3 unique helmets that are considerably different from one another. I think the amount of use of the new logo on these uniforms overall is spot on and a ideal level for our overall enhanced new image.
